About West Coast Steiner School
Steiner Education in Perth Since 1995
Our story - 30 Years of Steiner Education in Perth
West Coast Steiner School was founded in 1995 in Nollamara, Perth, by a group of parents who shared a belief in Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy and were passionate about their children experiencing a truly holistic education. Thirty years on, WCSS is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational primary school offering a complete and authentic Steiner education from Baby Group to Class 6. We are fully accredited and a proud member of Steiner Education Australia (SEA) and the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA).
Goodness, Beauty & Truth – Our Steiner Philosophy
The values that guide and define us at West Coast Steiner School are Goodness, Beauty and Truth.
Goodness, Beauty, and Truth are the foundational developmental pillars of a Steiner education – designed to cultivate the head, heart and hands of each child across specific stages of development. At West Coast Steiner School, these aren’t abstract values or marketing language. They’re woven into the curriculum daily, nourishing each child’s inner life and preparing them for a purposeful one. Here’s how each pillar shows up at WCSS:
Goodness (action): Nurturing the child's will.
Beauty (feeling): Nurturing the child's emotions and artistic sense.
Truth (thinking): Nurturing the child's intellect.
Together, these three values shape young people who are creative, adaptable, and responsible – citizens prepared for a complex world.
What Makes a Steiner Education Different
Steiner education differs from mainstream schooling in three important ways. First, the curriculum follows the developmental stages of childhood – children learn what they’re ready to learn, when they’re ready. Second, lessons are delivered through art, music, story and movement. Third, the Class Teacher stays with the same class for multiple years, building deep relationships that anchor each child’s learning. At WCSS in Nollamara, Perth, these principles shape every school day from kindergarten through Class 6.
